Will Levis Tries Out for Jets After Titans Release, Eyes Role on QB Depth Chart

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis tried out for the New York Jets on Thursday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Levis was a member of the Titans throughout the past three seasons before he was waived on Sunday.

The Jets only kept two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, with rookie Cade Klubnik backing up veteran Geno Smith.

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reported that free-agent quarterback Jack Plummer also worked out for New York on Thursday, as Levis and Plummer are vying for a spot on the team's practice squad.

Levis was initially selected by the Titans with a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, as he was added with the No. 33 overall choice.

He opened his rookie season as a depth option before ultimately starting in nine games, completing 58.4 percent of his throws for 1,808 yards and eight touchdowns compared to four interceptions.

Although Levis entered his 2024 campaign as Tennessee's starting quarterback, he struggled mightily. In 12 games, he threw for 2,091 yards and 13 touchdowns while getting picked off 12 times. He also lost six fumbles.

Levis was was benched late in the year as the Titans finished with a 3-14 record.

Tennessee ended up selecting Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft, as Ward started all 17 games as a rookie. Meanwhile, Levis was unavailable last season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

This year, Levis competed with veteran Mitchell Trubisky for the Titans' backup quarterback job behind Ward in training camp. Trubisky won the positional battle, though.

Levis will now look to join a Jets squad that's attempting to improve upon a 3-14 finish in 2025.
