With the NFL's 2026 season nearing its opener, fantasy football mock drafts will soon give way to fantasy football actual drafts.

In all of those leagues that haven't drafted yet, of course.

If you're in this boat, the water looks immaculate at the moment. Maybe things get stormy closer to you being on the clock, but for now, the forecast calls for sunshine, warmth and an entire offseason's worth of optimism.

By staying a step ahead, you can keep this calmness going into your draft. To help with that, let's continue the preparation process with a new three-round mock draft, analysis of the picks and cheat sheet rankings to help you form the ideal selection strategy.

Mock Draft Analysis

Colts Patriots Football

Even for a PPR league, this mock placed a heavy premium on pass-catchers. A.J. Brown cracked the top 10, and Jonathan Taylor didn't. Those were certainly the biggest surprises of the first round, and they were setting the tone for what was to come.

Mock drafters had to decide whether to pay the tax on pass-catchers or take discounts elsewhere but risk being frozen out on receivers or tight ends. Most teams did the former. Seven of the first 10 picks were receivers; save for Lamar Jackson, the third round was comprised entirely of receivers and tight ends (including a surprise selection of Colston Loveland).

Running back values were easily found. Chase Brown, Saquon Barkley and Kenneth Walker III closing out the second round as the 22nd, 23rd and 24th picks, respectively, highlighted that pretty perfectly. Then again, when the fourth round arrived with the likes of Jeremiyah Love, Kyren Williams and Javonte Williams on the board, managers who hammered the pass-catching positions early had to be thrilled with their options at running back.

When a position or two is being pushed up the board, it's always a delicate dance deciding between the climbing costs or the bargain buys elsewhere. Consistently paying above cost hardly feels like a formula for success, but the same goes for letting everyone else pick apart a position that you haven't addressed.
