NCAA: The 5 Ugliest College Football Jerseys

Leonard WeirichSep 15, 2009

In the years I have been watching NCAA college football, I have seen plenty of college football jerseys in my time.  I have come up with my top 10, as far as the ugliest college football jerseys that I have ever seen in my life.

Here we go:

Coming in at number 5 is San Diego State.  The team may be nicknamed the Aztecs, but as far as football jerseys go, they have to be among the ugliest jerseys I have ever seen.  If I was asked if I wanted to add one of their jerseys to my collection, my answer is no way!  To the athletic director of San Diego State - uniform makeover!

Coming in at number 4 is Texas Tech.  The Red Raiders may have nice helmets, but it's their jerseys that turn my stomach.  They sport all black during home games (and white jerseys with black pants on their road games), but red and black?  What do these guys think it is?  Halloween?  Get yourselves a uniform makeover.  You'd scare a child half to death in Lubbock.

Coming in at number 3 is the University of Virginia.  When I caught an ACC game on TV from Charlottesville, Virginia, seeing the Cavaliers in navy blue (jersey and pants, that is), it made me almost puke.  I have to admit that sometimes the Cavaliers need a serious uniform makeover.  The navy helmet (along with the navy jersey and pants) are so God awful!

Coming in at number 2 is Navy.  When I saw their uniforms for their annual game with Army in 2008, I thought their uniforms were u-g-l-y.  I admit I have never gone to a game at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium, but their jersey and pants combo for last year's game with Army at Lincoln Financial Field looked like something you would wear to your high school prom, not a football game.

And at number 1 - and the ugliest jerseys I have ever seen - that honor goes to the Universiity of Oregon.  In addition to having three different helmets, Oregon also has three sets of uniforms.  Imagine being at a NCAA game and you see Oregon coming out in, say, a yellow uniform and a green helmet.  Talk about bad taste!  Oregon needs a serious uniform makeover - and soon!
