Ashton Jeanty Injury Update, Latest on Raiders Star's Leg After Exiting Practice Ahead of NFL Season
The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly had a major injury scare during Sunday's training camp practice.
Per Vincent Bonsignore of the California Post, Raiders second-year running back Ashton Jeanty injured his leg in practice and could not put pressure on it as he left the field. The team reportedly gathered and took a moment to acknowledge the injury.
ESPN's Ryan McFadden reported that Jeanty suffered the injury when he dove for a catch and landed awkwardly on his right leg during team drills. He was helped off the field by trainers. McFadden added that the team doesn't have a statement on Jeanty's status at this time.
The No. 6 pick in the 2025 draft, Jeanty started all 17 games for the Raiders as a rookie and recorded 266 carries for 975 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 55 receptions for 346 yards and five more scores.
Earlier this month, McFadden reported that Jeanty "has looked extremely comfortable in this outside zone scheme" instituted by first-year head coach Klint Kubiak. He reportedly "has had multiple explosive runs down the sidelines during practice," and Kubiak wanted him to be "a bell-cow running back."
The Raiders added depth to their running back room when they selected Mike Washington Jr. in the fourth round of this year's draft. The rookie has totaled 119 yards in two preseason games, and McFadden noted that he "has shown that he could be a major factor."
Still, it's safe to say that the Raiders will be hoping for the best for Jeanty, as he was expected to take a leap in his sophomore campaign.
