Tarik Skubal produced his best start in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform on Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Skubal struck out 11 batters over seven innings in the 4-3 victory. It marked his longest start and the one with the most strikeouts since his trade from the Detroit Tigers.

Skubal weighed in on his performance after the game while speaking with reporters:

"I'm not gonna be perfect out there, but I definitely need to be better in the first inning," he said. "But other than that, I thought my execution was good. The stuff coming out of my hand is as good as it's ever been.

"I feel like I've always been able to sustain velocity, from pitch one to pitch however many I'm allowed to go. When I feel confident commanding the ball, that's when I feel like I can really start letting it rip and it's going to go where I want it to go."

"That's the guy that we needed. Completing seven innings, reset the bullpen, great outing," manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the game. "He's very physical, and you can see that when he needs to reach back for more, it's in there."

Skubal's final line was impressive, but he didn't start off well.

The Dodgers left-hander conceded three straight hits, including a triple to Oneil Cruz.

Once Skubal got out of the first inning, he locked in and delivered a quality start.

Skubal fanned 11 batters in seven innings. He didn't give up a hit after the second inning.

Skubal only allowed one runner to reach base from the third inning on.

"We got a ton of really good arms here, a ton of talent, and it's just about us going out there and playing baseball and executing," Skubal told reporters. "When we're doing that, we're the best team in the league."

Before Saturday, Skubal's strikeout high in a Dodgers uniform was seven. He hadn't pitched out of the sixth inning in his three previous appearances for the National League West side.
