Juan Pablo Montoya Makes The Chase, Now What?

What now? What will this team do different?

Can they squeeze a few more spots from their race cars?

The No. 42 car had an average finish of thirteenth in the races before the chase, but to win a championship this team would have to see an improvement of at least eight spots during the chase.

He has to run top five week in and out to give himself a chance to win the championship.

Can this be done?

Sure anything is possible, but running top five’s during the chase is probably not realistic, these are not Hendrick cars or engines.

So how can this team win this chase? They need to win two races and run top ten in the rest , with maybe one bad day, assuming the top drivers also have one bad race.

That is probably the only shot they got.

The Hendrick teams and the satellite teams of Stewart and Newman are just too strong. Look for the champion to be from those camps.

I hope I’m wrong, would be nice see an outside team win it, maybe Montoya or Vickers. It may be good for NASCAR not to have a quad-peat or whatever it would be called.

I understand Montoya will have new cars for the chase, I would assume faster than the old ones.

One thing that may be helpful, No. 42 is the only car with a Childress engine to make the chase, maybe the Earnhardt-Childress Racing will concentrate on the Earnhardt-Ganassi team.

Lets hope that is the case , it sure would give Montoya a good chance to do well in the chase.
