A.J. Brown, Jalen Hurts Reunite for 1st Time Since Trade in Video from Eagles-Patriots Practice

One day after A.J. Brown made headlines for saying he hadn't spoken to Jalen Hurts since being traded by the Philadelphia Eagles to the New England Patriots, the two finally reconnected.

After Thursday's joint practice between the Eagles and Patriots, Brown and Hurts were seen chatting with each other.

Brown did make a point yesterday after saying he and Hurts had not spoken since the July 1 trade that he wanted to "keep everything positive" and "none of that stuff even matters" anymore.

Much has been made about the dynamic between Hurts and Brown over the past 12 months. Brown offered this assessment of the relationship when asked about it earlier this summer during an interview with NBC Sports' Maria Taylor.

"Not as close as we once were," Brown said. "I believe that's fine. There's no bad blood. There's actually still a lot of love. I love him to death. I ⁠want him to succeed and accomplish all the things that he wants to accomplish."

ESPN's Tim McManus reported in May that part of Brown's frustration with the Eagles offense as a whole was "directed" at Hurts because of a "perceived reluctance to target Brown on tight-window throws in zone coverage."

Even though Brown did surpass the 1,000-yard mark in each of his four seasons with Philadelphia, there was a notable drop in his production in 2025 compared to the previous three years.

Brown's 1,003 yards marked his second-lowest output since entering the NFL, ahead of his 869 yards 2021 when he only played 13 games for the Tennessee Titans.

He also set career-lows in yards per reception (12.9) and success rate (50.4).

Despite the unceremonious end of his time with the Eagles, Brown and Hurts both had tremendous success together. They helped the team make the playoffs in each of their four years as teammates, reached the Super Bowl twice and won the Lombardi Trophy during the 2024 season.

Brown and the Patriots will take on Hurts and the Eagles in a preseason game on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.
