Tarik Skubal's Final Box-Score Stats, Highlights from 2nd Start for Dodgers After Tigers Trade

After taking a loss in his first start for the Los Angeles Dodgers last week, star hurler Tarik Skubal wasn't much better in his home debut for his new team.

The former Detroit Tigers ace, who was shipped to the back-to-back reigning World Series champs at the trade deadline, wasn't his usual dominant self as he faced the Kansas City Royals at Dodger Stadium on Monday night. Skubal needed 95 pitches to get through five innings and gave up three earned runs on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. While he had to settle for a no-decision, the Dodgers managed to earn a 6-5 comeback win after Freddie Freeman's go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning.

Skubal had some trouble with Royals slugger Jac Caglianone, who was responsible for all three of the runs he surrendered. After an RBI single in the first inning, Caglianone gave Kansas City a 3-0 lead with a two-run home run in the third inning.

Luckily for Skubal, his new teammates managed to rally back by scoring the game's next five runs. After the Royals tied the game in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer by Kyle Isbel, Freeman brought Shohei Ohtani to the plate in the bottom of the frame to seal the victory.

Skubal said after the game that he knows he needs to improve, but he's pleased with the Dodgers' victory.

"We won, so, I'll gladly take that in a win any day of the week," Skubal said, per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez. "I'll be better going forward."

Skubal's next scheduled start will be on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers, and he will undoubtedly be motivated to bounce back in a big way.
