Caitlin Clark Faces Suspension for 8th Technical Foul After Contact with Ref During Fever vs. Sky

Zach BacharAug 8, 2026

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark received her eighth technical foul of the 2026 WNBA season during a matchup with the Chicago Sky on Saturday.

Clark now faces a one-game suspension, which will occur during a clash with the New York Liberty on Tuesday unless the technical is rescinded (via Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files).

She was called for the technical foul after making contact with an official once she stepped out of bounds following a pass that she made while driving underneath the basket.

Fever head coach Stephanie White was also given a technical for arguing the call.

Indiana will have an opportunity to appeal Clark's technical foul and potentially have it rescinded by the WNBA. The Fever have appealed multiple technicals for Clark this season, although none have been successful.

The three-time All-Star's eight technical fouls are the most in the WNBA this year, as only five players have picked up more than four technicals.

If Clark's latest technical is upheld, she'll be suspended on Tuesday and receive another one-game suspension for every two additional technicals that she picks up.

The 24-year-old is in the midst of an impressive 2026 campaign, averaging 21.5 points and 8.0 assists per game heading into Saturday's matchup. She also shot 44.1 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from behind the arc.

Clark finished with 26 points and 11 assists against Chicago.
