Adley Rutschman, Roman Anthony Injury Updates Provided By Red Sox Manager Amid Winning Streak

Boston Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy provided injury updates on new catcher Adley Rutschman as well as outfielder Roman Anthony on Friday.

Tracy said that it's "possible" Rutschman could start a rehab assignment on Saturday or Sunday as he recovers from wrist inflammation, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe.

Anthony also started hitting off a machine on Friday as he works his way back from a torn finger tendon.

"All things are positive right now," Tracy said regarding Anthony, per Speier.

The Red Sox currently sit at 63-51, as they're in the midst of an eight-game winning streak.

They own the No. 3 position in the American League East standings, although they also hold the No. 2 AL Wild Card spot.

Boston has continued its impressive turnaround this season, as the team has gone 34-8 after amassing a mere 29-43 record through 72 games.

Rutschman has yet to make his Red Sox debut after they acquired him in a blockbuster trade with the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. His last appearance came on July 18 before he was placed on the injured list due to the left wrist issue.

Rutschman earned his third career All-Star nod this year, hitting .251 with eight home runs and 19 doubles to go along with 47 RBI. He's also compiled a .764 OPS.

As for Anthony, he hasn't suited up in a game since May 4 after suffering multiple setbacks in his recovery.

Following an impressive 2025 season in which he slashed .292/.396/.463 and finished No. 3 in AL Rookie of the Year voting, he was still searching for consistency at the plate to open his 2026 campaign.

Anthony amassed one home run, five doubles, five RBI and 20 walks while hitting .229 in his first 30 games this year.

Still, it isn't difficult to imagine him providing a boost to Boston's lineup once he's able to return.
