New Aaron Donald Update, Potential Week 1 Snap Count Revealed By NFL Insider Amid Rams Rumors

The biggest question for the Los Angeles Rams during training camp is whether Aaron Donald will come out of retirement and join the team.

The legendary defensive tackle has been rumored to be mulling a return, and Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported Thursday that a decision could come "within the next few days."

A potential reunion between Donald and the Rams has been speculated since July, when Donald told ESPN's Pat McAfee that Los Angeles' trade for Myles Garrett made him think about a return.

Donald retired after the 2023 season, but he was still very productive when he called it quits.

Donald was then seen working out at the Rams' facility in July, further adding to the speculation.

Rams head coach Sean McVay has provided a few updates in recent weeks, including a big one last week.

"There won't be any news on that front until we get back to Woodland Hills," McVay said Friday, per ESPN's Sarah Barshop. "We've loosely had some different timelines that are kind of temporary. I want to keep those between us just if something unforeseen happens, out of respect for him and the situation. But I know this: Things are going in the right direction. And if there's an arrow, it's trending upwards."

Donald's potential return reportedly wasn't expected to happen until late in training camp or even during the regular season, but the report from Florio on Thursday perhaps indicates that Donald will join the team sooner than that.

Even if he's a few years removed from the game, Donald's presence would only give the Rams' tremendous defensive line another boost. It's hard to imagine he'll be a starter or play significant snaps, but he can still likely make a difference.
