Rams' Sean McVay Jokes Aaron Donald Had 'Best Tryout We've Ever Had' Amid NFL Comeback Buzz

The Los Angeles Rams hosted a tryout on Wednesday, and one player aced it.

Sean McVay joked about Aaron Donald "trying out" for the Rams amid a potential comeback for the legendary defensive tackle.

"Best tryout we've ever had," McVay joked. "I think he could make the team."

Donald has been retired since 2023, but there have been several indications that he's gearing up for a comeback.

After the Rams landed star Myles Garrett this offseason, Donald told ESPN's Pat McAfee that the move led to him contemplating a return to Los Angeles. He was later seen working out at the Rams' facilities.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported last month that Donald wasn't yet sure if he would return to the NFL, but he was at least thinking about it. McVay fanned the flames this week when he said the arrow for Donald's return is "trending upwards."

"There won't be any news on that front until we get back to Woodland Hills," McVay said Friday, per ESPN's Sarah Barshop. "We've loosely had some different timelines that are kind of temporary. I want to keep those between us just if something unforeseen happens, out of respect for him and the situation. But I know this: Things are going in the right direction. And if there's an arrow, it's trending upwards."

Donald is one of the most dominant players in NFL history, having racked up 111 sacks across his career, but it's no secret that he's 35 years old and several years removed from the game.

If Donald decides to return, he reportedly won't be a starter and is expected to be brought in as a spot guy. He's also not expected to join the Rams until later in training camp or even at some point during the regular season.

For now, his workout on Wednesday indicates that he'll be on the roster at some point.
