World Series Odds for Ohtani, Skubal's Dodgers, Yankees and All MLB Teams After Shocking Trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers are now an even heavier World Series favorite after executing the biggest blockbuster fans are bound to see ahead of the MLB trade deadline.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported the two-time reigning champions are adding ace Tarik Skubal.

In the wake of the deal, the Dodgers are +140 at DraftKings Sportsbook to lift another title. The New York Yankees are next at +600.

The Dodgers were millimeters away from losing the 2025 World Series, and they needed Yoshinobu Yamamoto to finish Game 7 on zero days' rest because their pitching staff was so depleted.

Despite having a $400 million payroll and a bevy of stars, L.A. was nearly felled at the final hurdle. The sense of inevitability right now about the Dodgers' quest for another title might be premature.

Having said that, it's increasingly difficult to point out a flaw that will doom the franchise.

Los Angeles is even more fortified on the pitching front as Shohei Ohtani is out injured and the pair of Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow are working their way back. The lineup is one of the best in MLB, ranking second in slugging (.433) and tied for first in wOBA (.337), per FanGraphs.

There just isn't another team on the Dodgers' level right now.

The Milwaukee Brewers have MLB's best record (69-41), but we've seen this story play out before. Milwaukee won 97 games in 2025 and wound up getting swept by the Dodgers in the NLCS.

For contending teams, landing Skubal for themselves meant keeping him out of Southern California. Saturday's trade is a serious blow from multiple perspectives.
