Shedeur Reacts to Deion Sanders' Visit to Browns' Training Camp in New Video

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders says he was excited to see his father, Colorado coach Deion Sanders, visit Browns training camp earlier this week.

"I'm overall focused every day on the practice. So the outside, nothing else really matters, whenever I'm on the field," Sanders told reporters Saturday (h/t ESPN's Justin Cooper).

"But whenever I'm off the field, of course, I'm excited that I'm seeing my dad."

Deion Sanders was spotted speaking with his son and Browns head coach Todd Monken during the team's second day of training camp.

Shedeur Sanders is currently competing with Deshaun Watson to be named the Browns' Week 1 starter.

Monken told reporters Thursday (h/t ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi) he and Deion Sanders had discussed topics including "what a great job Shedeur's done since I've been here, in terms of just his development."

Both Monken and Sanders expressed interest in speaking with one another earlier this offseason.

Sanders said on a May episode of Barbershop with Garrett Bush he wanted to meet Monken because he thought it was "vital as a coach, not a dad."

He also expressed surprise he hadn't been asked by either the Browns or Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staffs how to guide former Colorado stars including his son and Travis Hunter through their NFL careers.

"I could tell him a few things about [Shedeur], how to get him going," Sanders said. "That wasn't asked of me a year ago."

Sanders will now have to see if getting the chance to share his insights with Monken will impact whether his son wins the QB1 battle this offseason.

Watson is a former three-time Pro Bowler, although he has not reached that level of success since the Browns acquired him ahead of the 2022 campaign. He last played in 2024 before sitting out last season due to an Achilles injury.

Sanders started seven games for the Browns during his rookie season and led the team to three out of its five wins for the 2025 campaign.

Deciding which of those two quarterbacks will start Week 1 isn't the only decision the Browns have to make this offseason. Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green will also battle to be the third-string signal caller before the Browns cut down their roster later this offseason.
