Michael Vick Signs with Pittsburgh Steelers

Mike ChiariAug 12, 2015

Veteran quarterback Michael Vick has finally found a home in 2015, as he agreed to a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday, announced the team

The deal is for "roughly" $1 million, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

ESPN's Adam Schefter noted Pittsburgh was in need of a reliable veteran backup behind starter Ben Roethlisberger after incumbent Bruce Gradkowski underwent surgery on a dislocated finger.

Kristian Dyer of Metro reported six other teams expressed interest in Vick, including the New York Jets. The Jets discussed the possibility of signing Vick to serve as a backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick, according to NFL Network's Rand Getlin on Aug. 12.

In three starts and 10 appearances in 2014, the four-time Pro Bowler completed just 52.9 percent of his passes for 604 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

While Vick's skills aren't quite the same as Big Ben's, the veteran wouldn't require head coach Mike Tomlin and company to completely rework the offensive scheme should Roethlisberger go down.
