Brandon Aiyuk Calls Out His Contract Status in New IG Post as 49ers WR Eyes Commanders Move

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is once again airing out his grievances on social media as he continues to push to become a free agent so he can possibly sign with the Washington Commanders.

Aiyuk posted on Instagram stories calling out his contract status with the 49ers, pointing out that he's been on a voided contract longer than he was on his original deal.

The 49ers voided the guaranteed money on Aiyuk's contract for the 2026 season, but he currently remains under contract with the franchise through the 2028 campaign. In a June Instagram video, he asserted that his guarantees for 2027 were also voided.

"They mad 'cause they stupid. They dumb. They mad that they paid me $50 million in eight months and then voided my guarantees for 2027. And I'm about to be on a new team in 2027," Aiyuk said at the time, per Grant Gordon of NFL.com. "They mad at themselves for real. They acting like they mad at me, but they stupid ass mad at themselves."

Aiyuk has earned $48.2 million from the four-year, $120 million extension he signed prior to the 2024 season, per Over the Cap. He tore multiple ligaments in his knee in Week 7 of that year and hasn't played since.

While Aiyuk has maintained that he will have the chance to sign with the Commanders once his situation with the 49ers is resolved, ESPN's Adam Schefter indicated that his future in the NFL is not certain.

"I think that was on the track to happening, and then it went off the track," Schefter said on Monday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show. "That doesn't mean it can't get back on the track, but I think there are people who wonder whether or not he wants to play."
