Patrick Mahomes Says He Contacted Tom Brady for Advice on Knee Injury Rehab Amid Chiefs Offseason
Patrick Mahomes is hoping to bounce back strongly from a torn ACL, and he's leaned on some advice from other players who have dealt with knee injuries.
Mahomes said he has talked to Tom Brady, Tyrann Mathieu and Zach Ertz about advice for recovering from such an ailment.
Brady suffered a torn ACL and MCL in 2008 and responded well with an MVP-caliber season in 2009. Mathieu, who was Mahomes' teammate from 2019 to 2021, dealt with a torn ACL in 2013, while Erz suffered the same injury last December, just a week before Mahomes.
Mahomes, 30, was having a strong year before the injury, and he'll look to not miss a step upon returning.
Chiefs fans got a positive update on Friday, as head coach Andy Reid said Mahomes had been cleared to practice, adding that the quarterback will take it "day-by-day."
Kansas City begins the 2026 campaign in just under two months, and the Chiefs hope Mahomes will be available in Week 1 as the team eyes a return to the playoffs.
