New NFL Rumors Reveal Jacoby Brissett's Status for Cardinals Training Camp Amid Contract Buzz

Jacoby Brissett is still eyeing a new contract with the Arizona Cardinals, but that didn't stop him from showing up to training camp on Wednesday.

Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Brissett reported to training camp, though it's still unclear where he and the Cardinals stand regarding a contract.

Brissett is entering the second year of a two-year, $12.5 million contract and has a base salary of $4.8 million. That salary ranks 32nd among NFL quarterbacks in 2026. Arizona's presumed backup, Gardner Minshew, will receive $5.14 million in guarantees this year.

ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reported in May that Brissett and the Cardinals were "significantly" far apart on a reworked contract. Weinfuss then reported in June that Brissett was trending toward a holdout because he felt like he should be paid like a starter.

"A source told ESPN that Brissett believes that being a starting quarterback in the NFL should come with a paycheck that reflects that role. Hence, the holdout," Weinfuss reported.

Brissett was absent from the team's OTAs but appeared at the Cardinals' mandatory minicamp, avoiding a hefty fine.

As of late June, Brissett reportedly was still looking for a reworked contract that would guarantee him more than just $1.5 million.

Brissett started the majority of the Cardinals' games last year, throwing for 3,366 yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 14 games, marking the best statistical season of his career.

While Brissett is certainly underpaid for a starting quarterback, the Cardinals might view him as a one-year starter in 2026 before finding a replacement next offseason. Plus, Arizona has a new head coach in Mike LaFleur, which could add to the team's hesitancy to rework Brissett's deal.

If Brissett is unable to get more money before the 2026 season, he'll look to use the campaign to prove himself to either the Cardinals or another team.
