Jacoby Brissett's Cardinals Contract Talks Detailed in New NFL Rumors Ahead of Training Camp
Jacoby Brissett's appearance at the Arizona Cardinals' mandatory minicamp didn't signal any change in his desire to land a new contract befitting his starting status.
ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reported Friday that Brissett is "still looking for a reworked contract that will increase his guaranteed money from $1.5 million."
Weinfuss went on to say that Brissett's representatives aren't using the three big offseason deals for starting QBs elsewhere around the league as a firm guide.

Pitts Gets $54M Extension

Ranking Potential Worst-to-First Teams 📈
The Kansas City Chiefs boosted Patrick Mahomes' overall contract to $504.8 million by adding on a few more years. The Los Angeles Rams gave Matthew Stafford another $55 million. And the Indianapolis Colts re-signed Daniel Jones for two years and $88 million.
Brissett is mostly a career backup, and he'll probably be a one-year stopgap in Arizona before the team pivots to a younger signal-caller. He may not make it all the way through the 2026 season before third-round pick Carson Beck receives an extended look.
Because of that, the 33-year-old doesn't have a ton of leverage.
Still, his $4.9 million base salary is out of step with the market. It ranks 13th for 2026, and pretty much all the QBs below him are backups or starters with fixed rookie contracts.
Even Gardner Minshew II, who's behind Brissett in the depth chart, is in line to receive more total cash ($5.8 million).
This should be an easy situation to remedy. Brissett is underpaid and the Cardinals have ample salary cap space with which to accommodate a moderate raise.
Based on the fact this is dragging on to late June indicates one or both parties are digging in their heels on a specific dollar figure.
