New WWE Rumors Reveal When Sheamus Actually Becomes a Free Agent amid AEW Contract Buzz
Fans hoping to see longtime WWE Superstar Sheamus pop up in a different promotion following his departure from the company reportedly will have to wait a little longer.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), Sheamus is expected to officially become a free agent on Oct. 1.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Sheamus will leave WWE when his contract expires after he rejected a proposed extension on a restructured deal while he was out injured. The four-time World Champion spent 20 years with the company, but he hasn't appeared on television since November.
There has been speculation that Sheamus could land in AEW because of his close friendship with Claudio Castagnoli. The 48-year-old would also draw interest from other promotions once he's officially available this fall.
Sheamus is still a popular performer, and he could have a lot left in the tank once he's fully healthy, so it will be exciting to see where he lands once he hits the open market.
