New WWE Rumors on Sheamus' Future, Contract Talks Amid Proposed Extension From Company
Another WWE veteran Superstar is reportedly on their way out of the company.
According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Sheamus will leave WWE when his contract expires after he rejected a proposed extension on a restructured deal.
Sheamus began working for WWE in 2006 before officially making his main roster debut in 2009. He went on to become the first Irish world champion in WWE history, winning the WWE Championship three times and the World Heavyweight Championship once. He was a five-time tag team champion and a three-time United States Champion. He was also a winner of the King of the Ring tournament, the Royal Rumble match and the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Sheamus hasn't been seen on WWE television since he teamed with Rey Mysterio and John Cena to defeat The Judgment Day in Cena's last-ever appearance on Monday Night Raw in November. He suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to be removed from the Last Time Is Now Tournament.
Sheamus brought a hard-hitting style to the ring that made him beloved by fans. He pledged to produce "banger after banger after banger" each time he stepped into the ring, and he did just that.
At 48 years old, Sheamus could be nearing the end of his iconic wrestling career, but he might still have more left in the tank. Fans will be waiting to see if he lands with another promotion after he leaves WWE.
