Reigns Discusses WWE Future

Roman Reigns doesn't picture hanging up his wrestling boots anytime soon.

The world champion was a guest for a live edition of the Nightcap podcast at Fanatics Fest this past weekend. During the chat, he addressed his eventual retirement.

"I definitely have a few more years in what I'm doing now," Reigns said (via Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News). "I guess it just depends on what the schedule would look like. And you've seen other performers. You know, I just talked to Undertaker a few minutes ago and he was like, 'I'm working more than I did in the past 10 years,' because he had a very nice schedule, but he put in a lot of work to get to that point."

At 41, Reigns isn't old in wrestling terms. He's the same age as Cody Rhodes and six years younger than CM Punk.

The lighter schedule he has these days is helping his longevity. He has had four televised matches in 2026, the last of which was at Clash In Italy in May.

Perhaps the better question is how much longer Reigns will be regularly presented as a major player in the title scene.

If he's only wrestling four or five times, he could plausibly keep going into his 50s. The Undertaker was 55 when he had his farewell match at WrestleMania 36. At some point, though, The Original Tribal Chief is bound to become more of a singular attraction rather than a star who's driving the main storyline.

Paul Envisions Wrestling for 'Minimum' of Five Years

Like Reigns, Logan Paul doesn't foresee a hiatus from wrestling on the horizon.

Paul told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith (via WrestlePurists) at Fanatics Fest he "would love to do WWE for, minimum, another five years."

"And maybe I'll be one of those guys who has a 10-, 15-year career, and maybe they'll stop booing me eventually," he said. "Not that that's what I want, but maybe they'll try to start cheering at one point."

Paul added that he'd "be very lucky" to have his daughter, who turns two this year, get old enough to where she can appreciate his in-ring exploits.

"I think it would be really cool for her to see her dad do something that he loves and is good at in front of the people so she understands kind of who her dad is," he said.

Paul clearly isn't being influenced by the serious tricep injury he suffered at Saturday Night's Main Event in May. Being on the shelf for so long hasn't led him to question whether this is a career he wants to maintain.

In fact, he's itching to wrestle again well ahead of his original timeline.

McGregor's WWE Trolling Dismissed by TKO Execs

UFC star Conor McGregor might've ruffled some feathers within WWE when he dismissively referenced Reigns on social media and criticized the tendency to spotlight WWE performers at UFC shows.

Fightful Select (via Mukherjee) reported this was treated as a form of "corporate synergy" inside TKO offices rather than an earnest rebuke of WWE.

There's a very good chance McGregor is aware of exactly who Reigns is because he has trolled WWE stars in the past. He reportedly got approached about appearing at WrestleMania 33 in 2017 as well.

This is all underlining why some people continue to entertain the possibility of the 38-year-old showing up in a WWE ring. He remains a massive star in combat sports, and he has the natural charisma to transition into pro wrestling for an extended run or one-off spectacle.

And now that WWE and the UFC are owned by the same umbrella company, both would potentially benefit from a McGregor crossover if it's done right.

Alas, that's not going to happen soon, if it ever happens at all. The former featherweight and lightweight champion is recovering from a major ACL injury, so he faces a long recovery before he'll be able to do anything physical, be it as part of a UFC comeback or a foray into WWE.
