Titans' Cam Ward Reflects on Viral 'We Ass' Comment in Netflix's 'Quarterback' Season 3

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward stood by the candid assessment of the team he made midway through his rookie season.

After the Titans lost their fourth straight game to open the 2025 NFL season, Ward summed up the team's performance by saying, "We ass."

The second-year signal-caller circled back to that comment in the newest season of Netflix's Quarterback docuseries.

"That's how I've been my whole life," he said (via Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith). "That's how I was raised, to be honest. That's how I was brought up. For myself, I'm not playing my best ball that game, and when I said that, I meant it."

Some saw Ward's postgame frustration last fall as a display of leadership. There are times when it's helpful to be honest and straightforward rather than dance around the truth. Ward didn't single out any of his teammates, either.

Others, however, thought it was maybe a little too soon for a rookie to be so openly critical. Titans legend Warren Moon was among that group:

Tennessee won its next game after Ward's viral moment but proceeded to finish 3-14. Coach Brian Callahan got the boot after just six games. Whether he should've said it or not, Ward's evaluation was pretty much on the money.

The 2026 season may not be a massive improvement. The Titans sit 28th in Bleacher Report's power rankings prior to training camp.

But they can have another losing season while pointing to a brighter future ahead. Ward's development will be a critical part of that wider process, and the franchise will hope he's striking a more positive tone at the podium compared to last year.
