Jake Paul Mocks Conor McGregor's Injury, 'UFC Highlights' in Wild Poolside Video

Nobody may have enjoyed the main event of UFC 329 more than Jake Paul.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer mocked UFC star Conor McGregor, who appeared to suffer a knee injury in the first round. While including the caption "UFC highlights from tonight," he did a pair of exaggerated kicks before grabbing his right knee and falling into a pool:

Despite the follow-up message, Paul's trash talk is bound to fuel more speculation about a future encounter between the two.

A fight between McGregor and Paul looks far more plausible now than it did going into UFC 329.

In mid-June, McGregor said he earmarked an April 2027 date for his next UFC battle once UFC 329 was over. That's probably not going to happen if his injury from Saturday is as serious as it initially looked. UFC president Dana White said in his post-fight press conference it appeared to be a "blown ACL."

This is now two straight fights for McGregor that ended with him getting hurt in the first round, and he has just one victory since beating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in 2016.

It's fair to wonder whether the UFC will feel confident enough to book him for a major show again after his comeback fell so flat.

If the promotion balks at the idea or tries to play hardball, McGregor will know he has a lucrative alternative in Paul.

Granted, it remains to be seen if Paul's knockout at the hands of Anthony Joshua last December hurt his box-office appeal at all.

A not insignificant number of fans tuned in to Paul's events hoping he'd get some form of comeuppance. Now that that has happened, those viewers may have basically moved on.

Whether they ever organize a fight or not, the antipathy between Paul and McGregor is very real and won't go away anytime soon.
