Caitlin Clark Gives Back Injury Update, Details Rehab Process Ahead of Return for Fever vs. Sparks

Timothy RappJul 8, 2026

Caitlin Clark missed the past two games with the Indiana Fever due to a back issue, but she updated her injury status on Wednesday as she returned to the court vs. the Los Angeles Sparks.

"Yeah, I feel pretty good," Clark said regarding her back. "It's kind of interesting timing with having a week off, and we were one of the later games even after the Commissioner's Cup. Was out of practice for a little bit and then got back into it, but I'll be on a minutes restriction tonight. Hope everything goes well with warmups, but I feel good. Just taking it game by game, obviously. It's tough to come back on a back-to-back, so I won't be available tomorrow."

She also detailed the recovery and rehabilitation process for her back.

"I do everything possible to try and get ready to play," Clark said. "Hyperbaric oxygen chamber, I needle, we travel with massage therapists. I do anything I can to make sure my body's right. I think that's also where I find a lot of confidence. Obviously I've missed the past two games but I know of done everything that I can, and should."

Clark, 24, has been brilliant when healthy, averaging 21.2 points and 8.2 assists per game while shooting 34.4 percent from three across 17 games. But injuries have become a major story in her three WNBA seasons, as she only played 13 contests last year.

Keeping one of the faces of the WNBA on the floor is now a major priority for the Fever. While the team made the playoffs without her last season, Indiana is simply a more dynamic threat when Clark is steering the ship.

While Clark played on Wednesday, centerĀ Aliyah BostonĀ (right lower leg) was rested for precautionary measures. The two will flip on Thursday night, with Boston in the lineup and Clark sitting.

"When you know better, you do better," head coach Stephanie White told reporters about trying to keep the pair healthy while facing a back-to-back. "We have to be able to use all of our resources."

Sounds like Clark is doing the same when it comes to treating her back issues.
