AC Milan have sealed the signing of Roma youngster Alessio Romagnoli, with the centre-back penning a deal through 2020 with the Serie A giants, per the club's Twitter account.
Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Romagnoli spent last season on loan at Sampdoria. He excelled, appearing 30 times in Samp's seventh-placed campaign, scoring twice and providing two assists, per WhoScored.com. He should bring added strength to the Milan defence as the San Siro outfit look to improve dramatically in the coming season.
In 2014-15, they finished 10th in Serie A, their second-lowest league finish since they returned to the Italian top flight over 30 years ago, per ESPN FC's Ben Gladwell.
Recently installed manager Sinisa Mihajlovic will be hoping that Romagnoli can play a key role as Milan look to tighten their defence—last season saw them concede 50 goals in Serie A.
As Italian football expert Gabriele Marcotti notes, it is an encouraging signing from the Rossoneri:
Romagnoli joins Andrea Bertolacci as the second player to make the switch from Roma to Milan this summer.
