WWE's Danhausen 'Uncurses' Islanders in Video After Knicks, Hurricanes' Championships
After his viral "uncursing" of the New York Knicks, WWE Superstar Danhausen is using his powers for the good of another New York sports team.
Following a request on Cameo this week, Danhausen uncursed the NHL's New York Islanders, who have not won a Stanley Cup since winning four in a row from 1980 to 1983:
Danhausen cautioned that he isn't sure how effective the Islanders' uncursing will be, saying, "I keep having to curse and uncurse people, so I don't know how wearing thin this is, but New York Islanders, you are uncursed. Hope it works. No guarantees."
Famously, Danhausen cursed the Knicks early in their 2026 NBA playoff run during an appearance on ESPN's First Take, and New York fell behind 2-1 in their first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks shortly thereafter.
Danhausen then uncursed the Knicks as part of a Cameo request, and the team proceeded to win 15 of their next 16 games en route to winning their first NBA championship since 1973.
Because of that, Danhausen became synonymous with the Knicks' success, even securing an invite to an NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden.
In addition to the Knicks, Danhausen cursed the Carolina Hurricanes during their Stanley Cup Final matchup with the Vegas Golden Knights.
However, a crowd-funded campaign got Danhausen to reverse the curse after the Canes fell behind 2-1 in the series, and they then proceeded to win three games in a row to take their first Stanley Cup in 20 years.
Islanders fans are now hopeful Danhausen will be able to have a similar impact on their team after missing the playoffs each of the past two seasons.
