US Open Golf Leaderboard 2026 Review of Top Scorecards and Player Stats on Day 2
Wyndham Clark maintained his multi-shot advantage at the 2026 U.S. Open on Friday.
Clark shot a one-under 69 to move up him to seven-under for the tournament.
The 2023 U.S. Open champion heads into the weekend with a four-shot lead over Matt Fitzpatrick, Xander Schauffele, Tom Kim and Sam Stevens.
There's still a lot of golf to be played, but Clark appears to have the best handle on how to deal with Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
Other golfers had a less than ideal time around the New York course, including Bryson DeChambeau, who once again missed a major tournament cut.
Wyndham Clark Moves Up To 7-Under
1 of 3
Wyndham Clark produced another under-par round to keep his lead at Shinnecock Hills.
Clark turned in a one-under 69 to follow up his remarkable six-under 64 from the opening round.,
The one-time major winner rolled in three birdies, had two bogeys and parred the other 13 holes.
The consistency was the most impressive part of the second round. Clark didn't get too high or too low following his fantastic opening 18 holes.
The 32-year-old American built himself a solid cushion to work with over the weekend.
He obviously can't get complacent about his position on the leaderboard, but he is able to absorb a few mistakes, if he makes them on Saturday or Sunday.
Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele Among Low Scorers
2 of 3
Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele were among the select few golfers that used a low Friday round to move up the leaderboard.
Morikawa tied Joaquin Niemann for Friday's lowest round. They both shot five-under 65s.
Morikawa moved up to two-under for the tournament with his scorecard full of birdies.
Niemann's five-under round allowed him to hang around for the weekend. He had a catastrophic opening round 78 that included a multi-shot penalty.
Schauffele's four-under 66 put him in terrific position to challenge Clark over the weekend. He is one of the golfers four shots back of the leader.
Aaron Rai, Justin Thomas and Scottie Scheffler were among the other golfers that shot in the 60s on Friday.
Not every golfer is going to find success around Shinnecock, but the select low rounds over the last two rounds prove there are low rounds possible for the weekend.
Bryson DeChambeau Misses Cut at Third Straight Major
3 of 3
Bryson DeChambeau hasn't made a cut at a major tournament in 2026.
DeChambeau shot a five-over 75 to drop underneath the cut line.
His card was littered with mistakes. He had a pair of double bogeys on the front nine, as well as four bogeys.
The inability to make any big shots on Friday cost DeChambeau his position on the weekend.
DeChambeau resided in a decent spot after Thursday with a first-round 70, but he was unable to carry any momentum into the second round.
DeChambeau has now either finished in the top 10 or missed the cut at his last 11 majors. He has five missed cuts and one win in that period.
