Hurricanes Troll Golden Knights' John Tortorella Over NHL Stanley Cup Final Quote
Vegas Golden Knights head coach John Tortorella didn't ultimately call his shot, and the Carolina Hurricanes were happy to remind him of that shot.
After the Golden Knights lost Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, Tortorella was confident the series would head to a decisive Game 7. He told reporters that "I'm going to leave my clothes here" in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Vegas won't be heading back to the East Coast after all with Carolina winning 3-0 on Sunday night. Rest assured, though, Tortorella will get his wardrobe back:
Taylor Hall gave the Hurricanes an early lead in the first period, and that was all the offense they needed. Making his third straight start, Brandon Bussi registered 22 saves to write his name into franchise lore forever.
The Golden Knights, meanwhile, head into a somewhat uncertain future. Having taken over for Bruce Cassidy on a short-term basis, Tortorella was noncommittal about his status on the bench for the 2026-27 season.
Carolina may need to double-check the final destination for his suitcase when the team gets around to putting it in the mail.
