Golden Knights' Tortorella Guarantees NHL Stanley Cup Final Game 6 Win in Video Amid 3-2 Deficit

There will be a Game 7 in the 2026 Stanley Cup Final, according to Vegas Golden Knights head coach John Tortorella.

Following his team's 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 5 on Thursday, Tortorella guaranteed the Golden Knights would win Game 6 to force a winner-take-all showdown.

Tortorella took his guarantee so far as to note he is "gonna leave my clothes" in the hotel the Golden Knights were staying at in Raleigh.

Vegas missed an opportunity to take control of the series at home in Game 4 when the Hurricanes scored twice in the third period to steal a 5-3 win.

The series moved back to Carolina for Game 5, which saw the Hurricanes hold serve with a 4-2 victory on their home ice led by Andrei Svechnikov's two power-play goals to move one win away from capturing the franchise's first Stanley Cup title since the 2005-06 season.

This also marks the first time since Games 2 and 3 against the Utah Mammoth in the first round that Vegas has lost back-to-back games. The Golden Knights followed that up with four consecutive wins.

Even though there's risk in Tortorella being so bold as to guarantee a win in Game 6, T-Mobile Arena has been very kind to the Golden Knights throughout this postseason.

Vegas owns a 7-3 home record in the 2026 playoffs, but the Hurricanes' Game 4 win halted a four-game home-ice winning streak that started with Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Anaheim Ducks.

Tortorella and the Golden Knights will get an extra day of rest to prepare themselves as they try to keep the season going.

Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final between Carolina and Vegas will be played on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
