Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Gareth Bale, Javier Hernandez Rumours

Christopher SimpsonAug 9, 2015

Manchester United are apparently considering a big money move for Gareth Bale, according to the latest rumours.

Per Joe Short of the Express, "United are reportedly putting together a £95 million bid for Bale."

The Welshman scored 17 goals and created a further 12 in all competitions last season, and as WhoScored.com illustrate, Bale has had a positive impact in La Liga for Real Madrid:

However, he endured a difficult time and was on the receiving end of criticism from some quarters of the Madrid faithful, despite his contribution.

As for United, they are still lacking some firepower after the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao. According to Harry Sherlock of Goal.com, manager Louis van Gaal told the Sun: "We can win the title if we can buy players with speed and creativity. We have to improve our selection in that way."

Bale would certainly add that to the Red Devils' squad.

However, Wales manager Chris Coleman believes Bale would be best served by remaining at the Bernabeu. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

"

Manchester United are who they are, but why is he going to want to leave Madrid? I know he came in for a lot of criticism and was seen at the president’s boy because of the huge transfer fee and he was targeted...

But he is strong enough and come through that and I think he will have a good season with [Rafael] Benitez.

"

Further, Spanish football expert and Bleacher Report columnist Guillem Balague is certain that Bale will stay at Real Madrid for the time being:

While United have plenty of funds to throw around in the transfer market, and a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards somewhere down the line for the 26-year-old, talk of a switch this summer is the embodiment of the term "silly season."

West Ham United Pursue Javier Hernandez

According to Tony Stenson of the Daily Star, West Ham United "are ready to make an improved £12 million offer" for Javier Hernandez after having "had one offer of £8.5 million rejected."

The Mexican was deemed surplus to requirements by Van Gaal last year and was subsequently loaned out to Real Madrid.

CHICAGO, UNITED STATES - JULY 29: Javier Hernandez of Manchester United back on with the team after being with Mexico at the International Champions Cup match between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain at Soldier Field on July 29, 2015 in Chicago,

Despite struggling for minutes with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema ahead of him, the striker still managed to demonstrate his impressive chance conversion, per WhoScored:

As Chicharito's now back at Old Trafford, football journalist Rafael Hernandez believes his talents warrant an opportunity to prove himself to the manager:

Currently, Hernandez is one of just three central striking options at United including Wayne Rooney and the inexperienced James Wilson.

With that being the case, it seems unlikely United will allow him to leave before another forward is brought in.

If they did let him go to West Ham, Slaven Bilic's side will have acquired an intelligent, pacey and clinical striker who's proven both at Premier League and international level, and one who could fire them to a top-half finish and beyond.
