Inside Myles Garrett's New Contract Details with Rams After Blockbuster Trade from Browns

Doric SamJun 10, 2026

After star edge rusher Myles Garrett agreed to a restructured five-year, $208.2 million contract with the Los Angeles Rams following his blockbuster trade from the Cleveland Browns, the details about his new deal have emerged.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Garrett's salary cap hit for the 2026 season will be just $8.9 million before rising each year over the course of his deal, culminating with a $48.2 million cap hit in 2030. Pelissero added that another $39.9 million won't hit the salary cap until Garrett's contract voids in 2031, as Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac pointed out that the deal includes eight void years "for cap purposes."

Ginnitti also noted that Garrett's new deal includes a signing bonus and eight option bonuses. Despite the reduced salary cap hit in 2026, he's reportedly still set to make $37 million fully guaranteed during the upcoming season.

Last offseason, the Browns signed Garrett to a four-year, $160 million contract extension that made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at the time. In March, the two sides agreed to modify the language in his deal to push back the dates of his option bonuses. Zac Jackson of The Athletic stated at the time that "the only real explanation for the modification is that both sides were at least opening a trade window."

The Rams managed to convince the Browns to trade the two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year by sending rising star edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a conditional 2029 third-round pick that would be elevated to a first-rounder if he's traded to another AFC North team.

ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that Garrett's new deal still includes a no-trade clause, so the 30-year-old will have a hand in dictating his future in the NFL. For now, Garrett will be focused on trying to help the Rams win a Super Bowl this season.
