ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier this week the fourth-year pass-catcher "has been interested in a trade" with the Patriots pursuing and eventually landing A.J. Brown.

"I would think that at some point this summer, we may get action there," the NFL insider said.

Boutte is entering an important season as he's destined for free agency in 2027.

The former LSU standout was a solid performer over the previous two years. In 29 games, he had 76 receptions for 1,140 yards and nine touchdowns. That kind of production probably won't earn him a massive payday, though, and he may struggle to attain a larger role in the passing game after the team acquired Brown and signed Romeo Doubs.

A trade would potentially benefit Boutte and boost his value before he hits the open market. The Patriots could instead decide he has plenty of value as a secondary target for quarterback Drake Maye during their quest to win another AFC title.
