New Cowboys Rumors on Myles Garrett Trade Pursuit After Maxx Crosby and Latest on Jadeveon Clowney

Adam WellsJun 6, 2026

After trading for Rashan Gary and drafting Malachi Lawrence, the Dallas Cowboys may not be eager to make anymore big moves along the defensive line this offseason.

Per ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys did not get involved in discussions with the Cleveland Browns for Myles Garrett despite their previous interest in Maxx Crosby.

Archer added the Cowboys "have not expressed an interest" at this point in bringing back Jadeveon Clowney as a free agent after he led the team with 8.5 sacks last season.

How Garrett Trade Shakes Up Draft ✍️

Garrett was traded to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday for a package that brought Jared Verse and three draft picks back to Cleveland.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry said after the deal went down that he didn't shop Garrett around and didn't intend to trade him, but the Rams' inclusion of Verse in the offer pushed it over the edge.

The Cowboys were among the teams that made an offer to the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby early in the offseason. Their best offer was reportedly a first- and second-round draft pick.

Crosby was set to be traded to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks after an agreement with the Raiders, but the deal was later called off after the Ravens did not pass him on a physical due to concerns about his knee following surgery to repair a torn meniscus in January.

There remains a possibility that Crosby could be dealt at some point, but the expectation is it would be more likely to happen closer to the in-season trade deadline in November when teams will be able to see how he looks in games.

Despite not receiving interest from the Cowboys right now, Clowney could easily end up back in Dallas before the start of the regular season. He didn't sign with them last year until after their Week 2 win over the New York Giants.

Clowney didn't make his 2025 debut until Week 4, yet he still led the Cowboys with 12 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in 13 games.

Lawrence is the big hope for Dallas to improve its pass-rush this season. The UCF alum was the No. 23 pick in the 2026 draft after recording 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks in his final college season.

Gary, who was acquired in a trade with the Green Bay Packers, will boost the Cowboys' depth. He has recorded at least 7.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss in each of the past three seasons.
