Jadeveon Clowney, Cowboys Agree to Contract, Jerry Jones Announces After Giants Win

Andrew PetersSep 14, 2025

After going unsigned this offseason, Jadeveon Clowney has landed on a roster.

Following Sunday's 40-37 overtime victory over the New York Giants, Jerry Jones announced that the Cowboys were signing Clowney after he spent the 2024 season with the Carolina Panthers, with NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reporting the deal is worth up to $6 million.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Sept. 10 that Clowney had met with the Cowboys, but was not expected to sign with the team immediately. he signing comes after Dallas traded star pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in August. While Clowney likely won't replace Parsons' production, he at least gives the Cowboys another pass rusher to help out the defense.

Clowney was released by the Panthers in May, saving the team $7.8 million against the cap for the 2025 season.

The first pick in the 2014 draft, Clowney spent the first five seasons of his career with the Houston Texans, where he racked up three Pro Bowl seasons and a second-team All-Pro nod in 2016.

The Texans traded Clowney to the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2019 season but he spent just one year there before signing with the Tennessee Titans for the 2020 season.

After playing just eight games with the Titans because of injuries, he joined the Cleveland Browns for a pair of seasons. He then signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens for the 2023 season before signing with the Panthers on a two-year contract.

Though Clowney has perhaps failed to live up to the lofty expectations set for him early in his career, he's managed to put together some good seasons. He had 9.5 sacks just two years ago with the Ravens and recorded 5.5 sacks with the Panthers last year.
