Jannik Sinner Reacts to Loss After Feeling 'Very Dizzy' in the Heat at Roland-Gross vs. Cerundolo
Jannik Sinner, who entered the 2026 Roland-Garros tournament as the top seed in the men's singles draw and clear favorite to take home the title, appeared to struggle with the heat as he lost his second round match to Juan Manuel Cerundolo on Thursday.
"I didn't feel very well on the court," he said, per Andrew Dampf of the Associated Press. "I struggled, starting to feel very dizzy, very low on energy."

He also said he "didn't feel very well" when he woke up but didn't put the blame on the weather.
"It was warm but not crazy warm," Sinner said. "I feel like it was quite OK to play. Really it was nothing against the heat, nothing against the weather. It was just me today, but it happens."
Sinner was the main storyline of the men's singles draw with Carlos Alcaraz sidelined with a wrist injury and a golden opportunity to complete the career Grand Slam after previously winning titles at Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and the Australian Open.
He also entered Thursday's second round with a 30-match winning streak that dated back to February and five consecutive Masters 1000 titles. Anything but a fifth career Grand Slam title figured to be a surprising result.
But nobody expected a second-round exit at the hands of Cerundolo.
Sinner seemed well on his way to taking care of business when he won the first two sets and built a 5-1 lead in the third. However, he started to struggle with the conditions, bent over multiple times and left the court for some time during a set.
Dampf noted he "was hardly even running for shots as the match wore on, resorting to drop shots and serve-and-volley tactics to try and shorten the points" with the temperature rising to 90 degrees fahrenheit during the match.
By the time Cerundolo won the third set in comeback fashion, it was clear what was happening.
Cerundolo lost a combined two games in the final two sets as Sinner looked nothing like his typically dominant self. It was a stunning result and cut short what figured to be one of the best chances of his career to cement his legacy with a career Grand Slam.
He is still a four-time Grand Slam champion and will have the chance to add to that later this year at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open assuming he returns to form.
"Let's hope we're ready for Wimbledon," Sinner said. "To be ready there, we need to recuperate well and do things right now."
