Giants' Andrew Thomas Restructures Contract, Updated Salary Cap for NYG amid OTAs
New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas has restructured his contract to provide more salary cap room for his team next season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday.
Thomas gave the Giants $6.46 million in additional 2026 cap space by converting his base salary to a roster bonus, per Schefter.

Predicting Biggest Surprises of 2026 NFL Season
Thomas is signed through the 2029 season with a base salary of $15.9 million for the 2026 campaign, per Over the Cap. His previous cap hit was projected at just over $24 million.
The Giants ranked 22nd in the NFL with $11.2 million in projected cap space prior to restructuring Thomas' contract, according to Over the Cap.
Thomas is heading into the second season of the five-year, $117.5 million extension he signed in 2023.
When Thomas is healthy, that deal has paid off for the Giants. Thomas and right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, who was re-signed by the Giants earlier this offseason, functioned as one of the most effective pass blocking duos in the NFL in 2025.
This is not the first time the Giants have adjusted Thomas' deal in order to clear out salary cap space. A similar restructuring last season created $12.2 million in room below the 2025 cap, per ESPN's Field Yates.
Converting more of Thomas' base salary to bonus money will once more allow the Giants to spread the cap hit out over the latter years of his contract.
That could include Thomas taking on a larger cap hit in 2027, when the Giants currently rank seventh in the NFL with $72.6 million in projected cap space, per Over the Cap.
Freeing up salary cap space for 2026 will allow the Giants more room to ink the team's only unsigned draft pick in Arvell Reese.
Reese has been participating in OTAs, but he has yet to sign what Spotrac projects will be a four-year, $47.8 million rookie contract.
Creating enough cap space to get Reese under contract will allow the Giants to officially bolster their depth at inside linebacker, where John Harbaugh previously said he plans to play Reese opposite Tremaine Edmunds.
