Aaron Rodgers Makes Donation to Support U.S. Women's Flag Football Ahead of 2028 Olympic Debut

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is throwing his support behind the sport of flag football in anticipation of the 2028 Summer Olympics.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Rodgers is making a donation to USA Football with an eye toward aiding the United States Women's National Flag Football Team in their preparations for the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.

Flag football will make its debut as an Olympic sport in 2028 with players going for gold in both the men's and women's divisions.

Since flag football was initially added to the Olympic program for L.A., much of the focus has been on the men's tournament due to the possibility of NFL players being involved.

In May 2025, the NFL owners unanimously voted in favor of allowing players to partake in flag football at the 2028 Summer Games.

It remains to be seen if that will come to fruition since flag football varies from regular football in many ways, and there may not be enough time for NFL players to properly train in flag football and be ready to compete in the sport at an elite level.

Regardless of whether NFL players are involved, Team USA is the odds-on favorite to win Olympic gold in both the men's and women's events.

At the IFAF Flag Football World Championship, the United States has won each of the past five gold medals in men's and each of the past three gold medals in women's.

The men's team routed Austria 53-21 in the 2024 Flag Football World Championship final, while the women's team defeated Mexico 31-18.

Germany will host the 2026 Flag Football World Championship in August, as Team USA looks to maintain its positive momentum heading toward the 2028 Olympics.

As for the 42-year-old Rodgers, he recently committed to playing for the Steelers again in 2026, which will be the final season of his illustrious career.

The 10-time Pro Bowler, four-time First Team All-Pro, four-time NFL MVP, one-time Super Bowl champion and one-time Super Bowl MVP led the Steelers to an AFC North title and playoff berth in his first season with the organization in 2025.

Now, in 2026, the surefire future Hall of Famer will look to end his career on a high note by potentially leading the Steelers on a deep playoff run.
