New MLB Top 10 Prospect Rankings at Each Position
A leaguewide top prospect ranking does not always provide full context for how a prospect stacks up to his peers at the same position, with different levels of depth at different positions on the diamond.
After publishing our updated Top 100 prospect list on May 13, it's time for a snapshot of how the top up-and-comers at each position stack up.
The following factors helped determine where players were ranked:
Potential: Potential trumps production a lot of the time, especially in the lower levels of the minors and with recent draft picks. Skill set and tools are often better indicators of what kind of player someone will be.
Talent: For those in the higher levels of the minors who are close to breaking into the big leagues, production and talent level were the determining factors since the players are viewed as more complete products.
Eligibility: A player must maintain rookie eligibility to be considered for inclusion. That means no more than 130 big league at-bats for position players, 50 innings for pitchers or 45 days on the active roster.

Top 10 Catchers
1. Ethan Salas, SD
2. Rainiel Rodriguez, STL
3. Joe Mack, MIA
4. Alfredo Duno, CIN
5. Cooper Ingle, CLE
6. Eduardo Tait, MIN
7. Harry Ford, WAS
8. Luke Stevenson, SEA
9. Nathan Flewelling, TB
10. Caden Bodine, TB
Notes
-After a disappointing 2024 and an injury-plagued 2025, Ethan Salas has rebuilt his elite prospect status by hitting .303/.364/.503 over 162 plate appearances at Double-A. He does not turn 20 years old until June 1, and remains well ahead of the developmental curve even with his lost 2025 campaign.
-With an absurd .504 on-base percentage and 1.122 OPS through 121 plate appearances at Triple-A, Cooper Ingle is knocking on the door for a chance to supplant Bo Naylor as Cleveland's catcher of the present and future.
-The Rays acquired Caden Bodine in the offseason deal that sent Shane Baz to the Orioles, and last year's No. 30 overall pick is off to a terrific start in his first full professional season. The 22-year-old hit .379/.433/.614 in 33 games at Single-A to earn a quick promotion to High-A.

Top 10 First Basemen
1. Bryce Eldridge, SF
2. Ralphy Velazquez, CLE
3. Charlie Condon, COL
4. Josue Briceño, DET
5. Ike Irish, BAL
6. Ryan Clifford, HOU
7. Cam Collier, CIN
8. Ethan Petry, WAS
9. Blake Burke, MIL
10. Jonathon Long, CHC
Notes
-Bryce Eldridge has nothing left to prove in the minors after crushing Triple-A pitching once again, but he has hit just .147/.278/.240 with a 30 percent strikeout rate through 90 plate appearances in the majors. With the Giants season slipping away, he should have every opportunity to work through the growing pains.
-After a strong run in the Arizona Fall League last year, Charlie Condon is on the MLB doorstep with an .804 OPS and 16 extra-base hits in 44 games at Triple-A. The 2024 Golden Spikes winner has the raw power to be a star in Coors Field.
-Viewed as a traditional 40-hit, 60-power prospect who might not hit enough to maximize his pop, Ethan Petry is shaping up to be one of the steals of the 2025 draft class. The No. 49 overall pick is hitting .306/.406/.560 with nine home runs and 32 RBI in 35 games at the High-A level.
Second Basemen

Top 10 Second Basemen
1. Travis Bazzana, CLE
2. Luis Peña, MIL
3. Devin Fitz-Gerald, WAS
4. Michael Arroyo, SEA
5. Max Anderson, DET
6. Sam Antonacci, CWS
7. Tommy Troy, ARI
8. Aroon Escobar, PHI
9. Gavin Kilen, SF
10. Henry Godbout, BOS
Notes
-Travis Bazzana made his MLB debut on April 28, and the No. 1 overall pick has immediately looked the part of a future star. The 23-year-old is hitting .302/.407/.458 for a 147 OPS+ over his first 27 games, and he recently moved into the leadoff spot in the batting order.
-The Nationals acquired Devin Fitz-Gerald in the blockbuster deal that sent MacKenzie Gore to the Rangers during the offseason, and he has been one of the breakout prospects of 2026. The former fifth-round pick has a .298/.411/.609 line with 11 doubles, 11 home runs and 11 steals in 41 games at High-A.
-After vaulting all the way to No. 13 overall in the 2025 draft with a breakout junior season at Tennessee, Gavin Kilen is hitting .303/.366/.455 with 17 extra-base hits in 41 games at High-A and is poised for another step up the ladder.
Third Basemen

Top 10 Third Basemen
1. Caleb Bonemer, CWS
2. Ethan Holliday, COL
3. Jett Williams, MIL
4. Pedro Ramírez, CHC
5. Josh Hammond, KC
6. Xavier Neyens, HOU
7. Andrew Fischer, MIL
8. Jacob Reimer, NYM
9. Chase Harlan, LAD
10. LuJames Groover, ARI
Notes
-With a .995 OPS and 15 home runs in 45 games at High-A, Caleb Bonemer has taken over the No. 1 spot in the White Sox farm system. His 30.8 percent strikeout rate speaks to his still-developing offensive game, but he will be just 20 years old for the entire 2026 season.
-Josh Hammond (184 PA, .817 OPS, 21 XBH) and Xavier Neyens (159 PA, .859 OPS, 9 XBH) were two of the top power-hitting high school bats in the 2025 draft class. Both first-round picks are off to strong starts in their pro debuts at the Single-A level.
-The Dodgers gave Chase Harlan an above-slot $1,747,500 bonus as a third-round pick in 2024, and after a strong debut last year, he is making a case for Top 100 prospect status. The 19-year-old is hitting .329/.454/.534 with a 17.5 percent walk rate and 15 extra-base hits in 39 games.
Shortstops

Top 10 Shortstops
1. Jesús Made, MIL
2. Leo De Vries, ATH
3. Colt Emerson, SEA
4. Franklin Arias, BOS
5. Eli Willits, WAS
6. George Lombard Jr., NYY
7. Sebastian Walcott, TEX
8. Aidan Miller, PHI
9. Aiva Arquette, MIA
10. Emil Morales, LAD
Notes
-The torch has been passed from Kevin McGonigle and Konnor Griffin to Jesús Made and Leo De Vries, who take over the top two spots on the shortstop list and on B/R's Top 100 list in the latest update. They are both 19 years old and more than holding their own at the Double-A level, with a second-half debut not out of the question.
-Franklin Arias was a consensus Top 100 prospect entering the year after he reached Double-A as a teenager in 2025, but he has exploded with a breakout season at the plate. He has raised his OPS more than 300 points while posting a .343/.415/.664 line with 12 home runs in 38 games at Double-A.
-One of the best pure hitters in the 2025 draft class, Aiva Arquette has a .294/.351/.544 line on the year. He is 4-for-10 with a home run in his first two games at Double-A after earning an early promotion, and should be on the fast track to the majors.
Outfielders
6 of 8
Top 10 Outfielders
1. Josue De Paula, LAD
2. Walker Jenkins, MIN
3. Mike Sirota, LAD
4. Max Clark, DET
5. Lazaro Montes, SEA
6. Braden Montgomery, CWS
7. Zyhir Hope, LAD
8. Theo Gillen, TB
9. Ryan Waldschmidt, ARI
10. A.J. Ewing, NYM
Notes
-Josue De Paula just turned 20 years old on May 24, but he is already one of the most productive hitters in the Double-A Texas League. The 6'3" slugger is hitting .302/.414/.485 with 13 doubles, six home runs and 40 RBI in 43 games.
-The White Sox have gone from youth movement to surprise contender, and Braden Montgomery could provide a major in-season boost once he arrives on the South Side. Acquired in the Garrett Crochet deal with the Red Sox, the former first-round pick has an .896 OPS with 21 extra-base hits in the upper minors.
-While injuries cut into his 2025 season, Theo Gillen has put his 60-grade hit tool on full display this year at High-A with a .306/.395/.604 line that includes 19 extra-base hits and 14 steals. He is now the No. 1 prospect in the Tampa Bay system.
Right-Handed Pitchers

Top 10 Right-Handed Pitchers
1. Trey Yesavage, TOR
2. Seth Hernandez, PIT
3. Jonah Tong, NYM
4. Anthony Eyanson, BOS
5. Kendry Chourio, KC
6. Tyler Bremner, LAA
7. Gage Wood, PHI
8. JR Ritchie, ATL
9. Kyson Witherspoon, BOS
10. Ryan Sloan, SEA
Notes
-When Trey Yesavage makes his next scheduled start on Saturday, he will exceed rookie eligibility limits if he tosses at least four innings. Through his first nine regular season starts, he has a 2.54 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 51 strikeouts in 46 innings, looking the part of a future ace.
-One of the most touted high school pitching prospects in years, Seth Hernandez has immediately delivered on the hype with a 1.51 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 35.2 innings between Single-A and High-A. He will have a case for the No. 1 prospect in baseball spot if he continues on this trajectory.
-Kendry Chourio has been the biggest breakout pitching prospect of the 2026 season, posting a 1.71 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 32 strikeouts in 31.2 innings. Signed for $247,500 in 2025, he will need to prove he can handle a starter's workload with an undersized 6'0", 160-pound frame.
Left-Handed Pitchers

Top 10 Left-Handed Pitchers
1. Kade Anderson, SEA
2. Thomas White, MIA
3. Robby Snelling, MIA
4. Noah Schultz, CWS
5. Jamie Arnold, ATH
6. Cam Caminiti, ATL
7. Hagen Smith, CWS
8. Gage Jump, ATH
9. Liam Doyle, STL
10. Wei-En Lin, ATH
Notes
-After a dominant junior season at LSU made him the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 draft, Kade Anderson has continued to overpower hitters after being sent straight to Double-A for his pro debut. With a 1.63 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 58-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 38.2 innings, he could be in the majors later this year.
-Robby Snelling turned in a bounce back 2025 season, then logged a 1.86 ERA over six starts at Triple-A before making his MLB debut on May 8. Unfortunately, his big league debut lasted just one start before he was lost for the year to Tommy John surgery.
-After suiting up for Team Chinese Taipei in the World Baseball Classic, Wei-En Lin has a 2.03 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 51 strikeouts in 44.1 innings at Double-A while emerging as one of baseball's fastest rising pitching prospects.
