Golden Knights Beat Avalanche, Updated NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs WCF Bracket
The Vegas Golden Knights are a win away from returning to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Knights erased a three-goal deficit to beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 to take a 3-0 series lead in the Western Conference Finals. The Avs had previously won 29 straight games in which they led by three or more goals.
Here's a look at the upcoming schedule.
Western Conference Finals Schedule
Game 4: Tuesday, 9 p.m. ET
Game 5 (if necessary): Thursday, 8 p.m. ET
Game 6 (if necessary): Saturday, 8 p.m. ET
Game 7 (if necessary): June 1, 8 p.m. ET
Through the first period of Sunday's game, it looked as if it was going to be an easy win for Colorado.
The Avalanche scored three first-period goals as Gabriel Landeskog, Nazem Kadri and Jack Drury all found the net to take a 3-0 lead.
But the Golden Knights came storming back in the second period, as Mark Stone, William Karlsson and Keegan Kolesar scored three consecutive goals to tie things up.
Vegas' offense stayed hot in the third period, and the Golden Knights took the lead on a goal from Tomas Hertl.
Colorado had a handful of opportunities late but ultimately couldn't find the equalizer it needed, and an empty-netter from the Knights in the final minute sealed the win.
Only four teams in NHL history have bounced back from a 3-0 series deficit, and it's been more than a decade since it happened, so the odds are stacked against the Avalanche.
Colorado will look to avoid the sweep on Tuesday, but after giving up four unanswered goals on Sunday, the momentum isn't on the Avs' side.
