That came after she first checked in with fans in a video and said, "Hey, it's Caitlin. I'm here at the Indy 500 with all my friends. Excited to be here, first time."
She also had the honor of walking the Indy 500 red carpet:
It was announced earlier this week that Clark would be the grand marshal for this year's version of the annual race and tasked with commanding the drivers to report to their cars.
"I'm honored to represent Gainbridge as grand marshal of the Indy 500," Clark said in the official announcement. "I'm looking forward to experiencing an iconic piece of what makes Indiana so special and being part of the time-honored tradition of 'The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.'"
Clark is one of the faces of Indiana sports, but this is the first time she has participated in race week activities.
ESPN's Kareem Copeland explained the Fever's schedule the previous two years prevented her from attending, but they had a six-day break in between games against the Golden State Valkyries on May 22 and May 28 that allowed her to participate this year.
"I'm not sure if she's been yet or not, but to experience that as the grand marshal, it's one of the highest honors you can get in the state of Indiana," Fever coach Stephanie White said.
Previous grand marshals have included such Indiana sports legends as Peyton Manning, Larry Bird, Reggie Miller and Tamika Catchings.
Clark is the latest to join the list.
