Colorado was unable to get the equalizer as Vegas scored a late insurance goal in the final minute from Nic Dowd.
The story of the night for Colorado will be missed opportunities, as it had a handful of chances to score early on in Wednesday's contest. The Avalanche will hope to get star Cale Makar back on the ice by Friday to help their offense.
