5-Star PF Eve Long Makes WCBB Commitment Between UConn, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Arizona and ASU
The Notre Dame women's basketball team landed a commitment from one of the top players in the 2027 recruiting class.
Per ESPN's Shane Laflin, 5-star power forward Eve Long committed to the Fighting Irish on Wednesday over offers from UConn, Arkansas, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, Duke and Kansas.
"Notre Dame felt like home from the moment I stepped on campus," Long told Laflin. "The campus life, strong academics, faith-centered environment and genuine connections with the team made it clear this was where I'm meant to be."
A 6'3" prospect out of Olathe South High School in Kansas, Long is ranked as the No. 2 power forward and the No. 12 overall player in the 2027 class in 247Sports' composite. She won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2025 U16 FIBA AmeriCup and was named to the All-Star Five following the tournament. Per Laflin, she averaged 32.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals this past season on her way to being named Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year.
Brandon Clay, 247Sports director of scouting for women's basketball, praised Long's upward trajectory and improvement over her high school career so far.
"Throughout the calendar year, Long has continued to grow her skill set," Clay stated. "She is one of the premier rebounders in the class and is comfortable making a play with the basketball in her hands in the halfcourt. Long continues to add to her outside shot-making ability as well."
Landing Long is a strong addition for a Notre Dame team that is hoping to build off its run to the Elite Eight this past season. Star guard Hannah Hidalgo will be back to lead the Fighting Irish next season as they prepare for Long's arrival.
