Chiefs, Ravens Named by NFL Insider as Teams That Could Still Add Veteran WRs In Free Agency

Julia StumbaughMay 16, 2026

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler feels the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are two candidates to continue adding to their wide receiver rooms this offseason.

"A lot of free agent receivers available. You've got Keenan Allen, you've got Stefon Diggs, you've got Tyreek Hill, and you have a lot of teams that need help," Fowler said Saturday on ESPN's SportsCenter. "Kansas City Chiefs are a little thin at receiver. Baltimore Ravens a little thin."

Fowler concluded, "So teams are sort of seeing what they have at OTAs and minicamp, if they have enough from their young players, they could go and try to make a move."

The Chiefs are heading into the 2026 season with a wide receiver depth chart led by Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Tyquan Thornton.

The team's most productive wide receiver from last season, Hollywood Brown, left in free agency to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. Replacing his production could be even more important should the Chiefs have to start the 2026 season without Patrick Mahomes amid his recovery from a knee injury.

The Ravens have surrounded Lamar Jackson with Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Devontez Walker.

Although Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has said the team plans to extend Flowers, he is currently signed only through 2027. Bateman, meanwhile, recorded a career-low 224 receiving yards in 13 games last season.

Both teams previously addressed the wide receiver position in the 2026 NFL draft, although not in the first two rounds.

The Ravens added USC's Ja'Kobi Lane and Indiana's Elijah Sarratt in Rounds 3 and 4. The Chiefs didn't target a wide receiver until Round 5, when the team selected Cyrus Allen out of Cincinnati.

OTA workouts begin for many teams next week, while mandatory minicamps are scheduled for June. The Chiefs and Ravens could hope these sessions give the teams some insight into their pass-catching options around Mahomes and Jackson, respectively, before making any moves in free agency.
