Brian MaziqueAug 20, 2015

With the release of Madden 16 less than a week away, you should be plotting your strategies for Connected Franchise as we speak. Don't you want to be prepared?

In case you were considering allowing the CPU to pick your players, TheTuna18 from NHL Coin Wizard warned against that strategy:

Whether you're playing strictly offline or with friends online, you need a plan of attack as it pertains to drafting and team selection. Everyone has his or her preference, but the best way to get the most out of CF is by starting with a fantasy draft.

It allows you to see just how good of a virtual general manager, coach and player you are. Here are some tips to create the best team from scratch through a CF fantasy draft.

What Style of Play Do You Like?

Do you like to run the ball more than pass or vice versa? Are you a 3-4 or 4-3 man or woman when it comes to defensive schemes? Do you prefer mobile quarterbacks or pocket passers? Do you like pure running backs or guys who excel as receivers out of the backfield?

How about your tight ends? Do you prefer pass-catchers, run-blockers or guys who can do a little bit of both?

These are the questions you should be asking yourself before you pick a playbook in CF. The playbook you select will determine how you attack on offense and how you defend. You want to match a scheme that aligns with the way you like to play the game.

Forget About Your Favorites

Once you have the playbook selected, you'll want to be careful not to draft guys who don't fit your scheme. If you want to play 4-3, it might not make much sense to select a guy such as Von Miller over DeAndre Levy. Miller can get to the passer as well as any pass-rusher, but in a 4-3, you'll want Levy's speed, tackling and pass-coverage skills more than Von's ability to get to the quarterback.

It doesn't matter if you really like Tom Brady. If you find yourself moving around with your quarterback more than staying in the pocket, Russell Wilson would fit your team and play style better.

Even if it means drafting a guy with a lower rating, matching the skill set with the style and scheme is ideal.
