WNBA, NBA Unanimously Approve Sale of Sun, Relocation to Houston amid Rumored $300M Valuation
The WNBA and NBA Board of Governors have unanimously approved the sale of the Connecticut Sun to Tilman J. Fertitta. The team will remain in Connecticut for the remainder of the season but will relocate to Houston for the 2027 campaign.
ESPN's Alexa Philippou previously reported that the franchise was being sold for $300 million.

The franchise will be named the Comets, per Chris Baldwin of PaperCity Magazine on March 27. The Comets were one of the WNBA's eight original franchises and won the league's first four championships but folded after the 2008 season.
Baldwin also reported that the Comets will play their home games at the Toyota Center, the home of the NBA's Rockets. Fertitta has been the Rockets' governor for eight seasons after buying the team for $2.2 billion.
The league is making moves on the expansion front. The Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire joined the league this year, and then Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia will grow the WNBA to 18 by 2030.
Relocation hasn't occurred in some time (the San Antonio Silver Stars became the Las Vegas Aces in 2018), but that'll change next year as the Comets make their return.
