"I want to prove that I'm the best," she said. "That allows me to have a great trophy case. It allows me to get rings. And it allows me to just play with peace."
Aces coach Becky Hammon, who's in her fifth year with the team, reflected on the evolution she's seen from the seven-time All-Star.
"She went from a young girl to a woman," Hammon said. "Her work ethic, her groundedness — she just has all the pieces. She holds the locker room accountable, and she can only do that when she's holding herself to the highest standard."
It's not an exaggeration to say Wilson is on pace to be the greatest women's basketball player ever, at least since the WNBA launched in 1997.
Nobody in the league has won more MVPs, and her three championships tie her with luminaries Candace Parker and Diana Taurasi. By the time she retires, she could feasibly surpass Rebekkah Brunson's five titles.
The Aces came out flat to open the 2026 campaign. They suffered a 33-point defeat to the Phoenix Mercury in their opener.
By Game 2, Las Vegas looked more like the team everyone is expecting. Wilson had 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a 105-78 win over the Los Angeles Sparks.
There's still a long way to go for the Aces to be the last team standing again. As long as Wilson stays healthy, they're going to remain the Finals favorites.
