While many NFL skill-position players long for the glory of catching passes and scoring touchdowns, Los Angeles Chargers tight end Charlie Kolar explained Monday that his greatest satisfaction comes from effectively running the football.
Speaking to reporters Monday while on hand for the Chargers' offseason training program, Kolar waxed poetic about putting the opposition away by pounding the rock:

"There's something so beautiful about you're up by six points, it's like third-and-3, you know you're running it," Kolar said. "There's two minutes left in the game, they have no timeouts. You get a first down, the game's over.
"You know you're running it. They know you're running it. Your wife knows you're running it. Their wife knows you're running it. You still run it. That is more satisfying than any touchdown I've ever had. That's kind of one thing I've grown to appreciate in the NFL."
Kolar spent his first four NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens playing under head coach John Harbaugh, and although he had only 30 catches and scored four touchdowns during that time, he was a huge factor in the Ravens' running game success.
Now, Kolar will play for John's brother, Jim Harbaugh, in L.A. after signing a three-year contract in free agency, and he will look to pave the way for running back Omarion Hampton in 2026 and beyond.
