Chris Boswell, Steelers Agree to Historic Contract, Salary and Full Details Revealed
The Pittsburgh Steelers and kicker Chris Boswell agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $28 million on Monday, CAA Football told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter broke the news during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday:
Boswell's $7 million average annual salary puts him in a tie with Brandon Aubrey of the Dallas Cowboys for the highest-paid kicker in NFL history, via Schefter.
While Boswell was initially set to hit free agency in 2027, he's now signed through the 2030 season.
All of the 35-year-old's 167 regular-season games played throughout his career have come with the Steelers, as he joined the team in 2015.
While Boswell was reportedly looking for a new contract in Aug. 2025 and didn't receive one at the time, his latest deal still doesn't come as a major surprise.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Wednesday that Boswell appeared to be "first in line to get a contract extension" following the 2026 NFL draft.
The veteran has been a consistent piece of Pittsburgh's special teams unit during his tenure with the organization and has particularly excelled as of late.
Boswell earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2024 and is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he connected on 84.4 percent of his field goals and 97.7 percent of his extra points.
He's extended his range in recent years, racking up 22 field goals from at least 50 yards out since the start of the 2024 season after amassing just 24 field goals from that same distance over the prior six seasons combined.
Boswell has also been consistent in the playoffs, hitting all 19 of his postseason field-goal attempts.
