Bo Nix's Return Timeline Updated by Broncos' Sean Payton amid Ankle Injury Rehab
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton provided an update on quarterback Bo Nix's recovery from an ankle injury on Saturday.
Payton revealed that Nix could be on the field in some capacity for the Broncos' mandatory minicamp in June, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The signal-caller should also be able to do some throwing by then before he'll be good to go once training camp begins in July.
Nix suffered a fractured right ankle in the divisional round of the playoffs last season that required surgery.

He was forced to miss the AFC Championship Game due to the injury, as the Broncos suffered a 10-7 loss at the hands of the New England Patriots with backup Jarrett Stidham starting under center.
Nix eventually underwent an anticipated clean-up procedure on his ankle in a follow-up visit with his doctor, as Rapoport noted April 28 that the passer remained "firmly on track" to be ready for the beginning of training camp.
If Nix is able to participate in the majority of Denver's offseason activities after his ankle recovers, it would be an encouraging sign for his 2026 outlook.
The former first-round pick is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he completed 63.4 percent of his throws for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions. Nix also rushed for 356 yards and five scores.
Expectations are high for the Broncos as they look to go on another deep playoff run, especially after they acquired wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in a March 17 trade with the Miami Dolphins.
Denver should continue to boast one of the NFL's top defenses as well, ranking No. 3 among all teams by allowing a mere 18.3 points per game in 2025.
The Broncos' mandatory minicamp will begin on June 16.
